Freddie Shava, Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Freddie is the founder and CEO of African Heritage Clothing. He has over 15 years’ experience at senior executive level covering various areas of the economic strata. He was previously GM of a manufacturing firm specialising in intimate wear called Swissette and later on became MD of one of the then largest garment manufacturing firms in Zimbabwe called Delswa. Delswa manufactured high fashion wear for men and ladies after which Freddie decided to diversify into protective wear. In most countries protective wear is a statutory requirement and this was a strategic move by him to enter to this lucrative sector. Before then Freddie worked as GM of a leading South African retailer called Jet Stores based in Botswana. He then took up a position as GM of another leading South African fashion retailer called Woolworth in Zimbabwe.
After managing a mobile communication firm, he left Zimbabwe in 2008 and moved to Ghana to take up a post as MD of an advertising firm called Creative Eye. After 5 years he bought the firm from its original owners and successfully negotiated a joint venture with a leading Italian advertising firm called Now Available. Freddie was to oversee the transition of Now Available Africa to form a foothold in the Ghanaian market and he sold his shareholding after one year to form AHC. Freddie’s vision is to grow AHC to be the biggest garment manufacturing entity in Ghana and beyond.
Freddie is a qualified professional with qualifications such as Bachelor of Commerce Marketing, Bachelor of Arts Management, Advanced Management Dip, Dip Marketing & Sales, Competitive Strategies, Executive Marketing Masterclass (GMN) and Empretec Entrepreneurship certificates. He is a member of Institute of Directors South Africa and Associate member Global Marketing network. He has a wide knowledge of the African terrain having sampled such markets as South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda.
